Knackered Abit KN8-Ultra
Lo all,
Took delivery of said mobo this morning, got everything hooked up, fired it up for the first time, configured the bios, went to boot and get the following message:
MediaShield IDE ROM BIOS 5.50
Copyright (C) 2005 NVIDIA Corp.
Detecting array ...
I'm using two IDE hdds and one DVD-ROM drive, tried swaping cables, tried disabling SATA ports, all the onboard RAID functions are disabled by default. Also done a bios update but still no joy. One thing I have noticed is if I disconnect all but one IDE device it seems to work but obviously that is pretty useless.
Any thoughts? Sounds to me like it is trying to configure the raid setup which clearly doesn't exist.
Probably will need to order a replacement which won't be an Abit just incase there is a batch of them, any suggestions for a similar prices nf4 ultra board?
Sigh, so annoyed, bought the system to build today as a suprise for my partner and it's buggered :/
<edit>
Now seems to be working, looking over on the Abit forums it seems a lot of people have found the board to be quite fussy with certain hdds / optical drives, sure enough removing the dvd-rom drive has sprung the thing in to life.
