Lovely Wolver-ampton!
The heater and aircon in my Vento has just packed up. Not being at all car-minded, could it be something as simple as a fuse? Getting no heat or blow at all, whatever setting.

Any ideas? Bloody typical - meant to be driving to Swansea tomorrow night. Can't see that happening if I can't get the heater sorted :( GRR

When i had an old astra there was a cable (not electrical) that attached to a valve down by the footwell. it used to pop off sometimes when i kicked it which stopped the heater nob working. took me a while of being very cold until i figured out what was wrong.

Was quite funny to have the whole car taken to bits only to find that the solution was down in a very accessible place and easily put right.

what im saying is that it might be the connection to the heater nob and the valve that has come mislodged worth testing before you go too far into looking at the heater matrix etc. that is if it is controlled mechanically of course!!?

cant see owt in the footwell. it was working when i went out. took my bike over a park for an hour or so. got back, car in boot, engine on. no heater blower.

as i say, not too car-minded and cant see any way of getting the the connections for the blower speed dial or temp control. when i hit the aircon i can hear the compressor but just no blower.

bu-gger.

ALLI did you check the relays ?

In my fuse box one had burn't out, which caused the blower to not work, and no hot air.

Big green blocks are what you are looking for, or anything else which you can pull out :p

I cant see anything other than the fuses (the one for the blower is a green 30amp one). I can't see any "big green blocks".

Sorry to be such a numpty.

Ah. Just had another look. Above the fuses are what I assume are some relays - grey and black small boxes with numbers like 53 and 106 on them.

If these are the relays, which one relates to the blower? Are the numbers relelvant to my motor, or is there some list of relays and their uses?

Look in a haynes manual, they are all listed in there. Local library has them for reference. (Well, South Shields Central does anyway)

Not sure there's many library's open now... And South Shields is a helluva drive!

I think it's the same relay for VW, Skoda and Audi's

Not sure if this is the same, ( I don't know anything about ventos ) but the old style peugeot 306 blower motor had a relay pack attached to it which fails quite often, if you can get to your blower fan there might be one attached to it that you can replace :)

There's a resistor pack in the passenger footwell which might be duff - but that would mean ALL the resistors went at the same time. I'm not getting blown on any of the settings (lol).

Fuses - OK
Relay - to check
Resistor Pack - to check

Actually, it would only take the last one in the chain due to how they are wired up. My heaters on my Rover 214 do not work on 1 and 2, only 3 and 4. Im guessing mine is a dodgy connection somewhere, but ive got to take the centre console and the glovebox out to do it. Gonna take a while. Just waiting for some half decent weather.
