Knackered hinge on DV2 range.

Hey peeps.

My sister brought her laptop to me this evening with a knackered hinge. My old Toshiba Satellite done the same. The only way I can describe this knackered hinge is that when you open the laptop, the left hinge doesn't budge thus resulting in the lid almost cracking each time it's opened.

I've tried using a spanner in the key lock (used for securing laptops) to budge it, but no luck.

If pictures are needed I can upload some in the morning as 23:23 isn't a time to be taking pictures me thinks

Any input is greatly appreciated as to how I can resolve this problem.

You probably need to replace the hinge, depending on how its constructed may mean its not an easily repairable part.

just repair it yourself mate - its straight forward and not worth shelling out £100+ for

the below shop should be able to supply the hinge cheaply even with delivery - i have used them loads (i have repaired many laptops)

i do not believe they are a competitor as the parts they supply are for repairs and differ greatly from OcUK.

Its not too hard a job, but the cabling can be fiddly and needs abit of patience to do it.
