Evening all.

Anyone use one? I am getting worried about my posture when sitting at the PC at home and have been reading up on these as an alternative. My work chair is lovely Steelcase Think, but I can't afford one of those for home. I can feel my back is just bent all the time.

Cheers.

A prayer chair. lol (First time I have heard of a kneeling chair to be honest)

Keep your knees above your hips if you have a bad back. ;)

greatest thing since sliced bread - daily use ~10years in - touch-wood no recuurence of back problems,
they feel like flying for a while, but improve your posture forcing you to use core muscles to maintain balance
option A) just arrive early one day and take yours in - have done that with two successive employers,
They both provided Herman Miller Aeron's (not so good imhop), I prefer a Balans kneeling style chair
Boss was curious and colleagues wanted to try it out but it was not a problem.

edit - they are not all the same some do not have 'rounded' base forcing you to restore your balance if you slouch

Thanks for the advice. So the rocker ones are definitely the ones to go for? I do slouch at home and that is what worries me.

have only tried the other kind briefly (a few at work -good for pregnancy too - they open hips) but I would say so.

..have hight adjustable knee rests on mine - seems to the thatsit model from same mftr
edit in the uk wonder if they could be classed as medical ? vat back ?

you could 'spec' it to same cost as a herman miller aeron - that are expensive too, but not as comfortable, imhop.
they are well made - laminated wood - the cushions+material robust
(... great for accompanying a home inversion table if you have a bad back - also 'fun')

OP needs to be more specific, as this is what I have in mind lol

While working as a Contractor some while back I found one of these in a cupboard. I retrieved and used it until I was spotted by the Office Manager who told me that they were considered to be unsafe in that you could fall over and injure yourself if trying to get up in a hurry (e.g. in the event of a fire).

Since I really liked the posture and it was unwanted I asked if I could put it in my car and take it home - sadly not, H&S regulations and potential Corporate liability :(

ps - BRILLIANT chair, REALLY comfortable!

I've never used one for an extended period of time, but they do feel really comfortable to sit on for the 10/15 minutes I used one every now and then.

Always wondered if it could irritate my knees after a while though...

Lol no, it depends entirely on WHY he has a bad back

A woman in our HR department had one for a while so i would use it whenever i was fixing her PC, they do give you very good posture but as i have bad knees anyway i did find mine hurt a lot after 10 mins of use :(
