Whatever hand you use to hold a knife to cut a slice of cheese or bread etc has to be the same hand you hold the knife when paired up with a fork in the other hand ,simple as that, the knife is for cutting & the fork is for prodding & altho you can probably prod with either hand it's a lot more difficult to cut meat for e.g. with your other hand
