Knocking noise when turning right

Only started happening this morning when coming round a roundabout, a constant "thokthokthokthok" type noise from the front offside, what would be the most likely problem? CV joint?

CV joint sounds likely, although if you are turning right, I would have thought it would be the left hand side (nearside) one making the noise, as the weight is shifted onto it.

Sorry yes, I mean't nearside.

As it's only just happened, will it be safe(ish) to drive for a day or two while I sort out a new car?

I'd get it looked at ASAP. If the joint fails completely, it could be dangerous. But I'm not sure about how quickly it takes one to go completely so I'll let someone with more experience comment....If you must drive it, take it easy.

You've got clicking under load in a straight line, then clicking in a straight line all the time to go before it fails. I drove my for months after it started clicking. When it failed it damaged the shaft and I lost drive (duh). If you want to nurse it, avoid harsh or heavy acceleration when turning.

Nice one, cheers. It'll probably end up being scrapped over the weekend if I find something suitable anyway but I need it to get out and view cars.
