I've had my Knox Handroid gloves for a little over 2 years now. In that time, they've been crashed (once), had their fastening mechanism broken and fixed, and been worn every single weekday it's been dry. And sometimes in the wet too.

However, now they're dead. There's a 2 inch split across the palm of the right glove. I guess it just had had too much.

What shall I replace them with? On the one hand, I wouldn't say no to another pair of the Knox's, but have a few quibbles with them that lead me to look at other things.

I know it's the wrong time of year to ask this, but what would people recommend in the summer / leather glove department? Obviously I'm looking for something that won't fall apart, as they're going to get used a lot. Also was a big fan of the protection and feel you get on the Handroids, so something similar to that would be good too.

I have had my pair of Alpinestar SP2's for about 3.5 years now and they have been used all year round to commute have survived one fall and the tumble dryer when they get wet. They are still in one piece but obviously have a bit of wear on them now and give a good feeling of security, my only gripe is the lack of wrist strap on them.

I tried a pair of Dainese gloves (forget the name) on the other day and found them a much better fit than the Alpinestars for me personally (same with 1 pieces) and am looking at them next but the £100+ price tag is a bit painful!

I'd go to a local bike shop or two if I were you and try on as many gloves as you can find and then check online for some prices of the ones you like

I use Alpinestar GP Plus's as my daily commuter gloves, still going strong I think over 4 years now!
If you want something summer and gore tex I recommend the 365's
If armour is your thing though then it has to be the GP Pro's :p

Yikes  Hope my Handriods don't fall apart like that.... having said that, my first pair were returned to the shop for a replacement, as the wrist strap was coming apart! Not too sure on Knox kit now, my Aegis (spelling?) back protector has just started falling apart too (though I've replaced it with a Forcefield one now).

I have a pair of GP Pros and going from the Knox back to them, highlights how uncomfortable they are - seriously, the Knox are some soft on your palms against the GPs - though having said that, mine have been worn for 15-16k miles and through at least one crash! And FYI, the joined fingers (little finger and 'the other one') don't stop breaks, as the screws in my little finger will show - doh.
