my cousin has a KODAK ESP-3 multi function printer, when its switched on it makes a few noises then cut out, no lights on the printer and the light is out on the power block, if you unplug the power block from the mains and back it the light comes on thats on the power block but switch the printer on and it cuts out again.

does it sound like a faulty power block or is there possibly somthing inside the printer tripping the power block?

its out of warranty too

check the fuse, but tbh I'd if its out of warranty I think its time to start looking for another one. Quick check around to make sure there isn't any damage to the casing that could be shorting something and that the cables are all plugged tightly in.

thanks for the reply, surely the fuse either works or doesnt, it would not cause this tripping problem, i could be wrong :p

yeah the cables are definately in tight and there is no signs of damage, if the priter had been knocked could that cause some kind of internal problem shorting?

My girlfriends parents had exactly the same problem with theirs around 6 months ago, turned out to be a faulty power brick although luckily it was still in warranty.

thanks for the info matey, i was wondering if it might be that but did not want to suggest buying one and it turned out to be somethign else, it might be worth getting a second hand brick and see how it goes. ;)
