I have literally just installed Gotham for the first time and I'm hoping it can replace Plex as my media solution.

I have installed the Steam add-on and have it seamlessly flipping between the 2. Excellent.

So, now I need to set about customising the interface, and having Googled for a wee while, I can tell I'm going to need a little help to get me started.

First things first, I would like to have thumbnails showing instead of the default ugly file list. I'm seeing guides on custom thumbnails, but I want it to be automatic like Plex does. Is that possible?

Go to whatever section you want to change ie TV Shows, Movies etc, press up twice on your remote and at the top of the screen it'll let you start going through the various views including ones with thumbnails.

Edit - just realised i'm using the Aeon MQ5 skin, no idea if the default skin is still up twice on the remote for views.

I got the thumbnails going, thanks.

Is there any add on for movies that make the thumbnail a DVD cover and maybe a little bit of info on the movie, like Plex does?

5 threads below this one is the official Kodi thread:

To answer your question thought it doesn't sound like you have scraped anything. You need to add a source, set it's media type and then scrape. Once scraped you will have two main menu options called Movies and TV Shows in which you will see your library and it will display how you want it to.

I did notice the official Kodi thread but I considered my question to be specific. Official threads have numerous conversations going on at once.

No I haven't scraped anything, I have no idea what that is.

We can handle multiple conversations :)

Scraping is the act of getting metadata, basically. XBMC takes your movie name, searches IMDB or TheMovieDB for it and then downloads artwork and synopsis information to display for you in the XBMC interface.
