Is this considered a good bike?

I've just started biking again after a 15 year hiatus, using my ancient Saracen Sahara Elite at the moment. I've toyed with buying something new - but just been offered a 6 month old one of these for about £500.

If I was buying new, I was thinking I'd spend around £400 (but I hadn't really done much research yet) but I suspect this is a lot more bike than I'd be getting that way. Does it seem a reasonable price, given that age and (claimed) excellent condition?

You can get the 2015 model for £660 on wiggle.

I'd wana be getting that cheeper, checked prices with the auction site?

You not going to be riding roads?

Very little road riding. On the other hand, probably not terribly rough stuff either most of the time. Trails, bridleways, that kind of thing mostly.

I did have a quick look at the auction site. There were buy it nows for a lot more, not much that was a genuine auction.

Have you considered a cx? A lot of people on here are now fond of them, guys at work are raving about them and I'm getting one as my winter bike.

Halfords have a couple.of CX boardmans in that have 15% off at the moment, the £600 quid one (minus 15%) would be better in my eyes. If you're a British cycling member or know someone who is you can get an extra 10% off too.

More bike for your money and brand new too.
