Korean Archery - Arrow Splitting

It reminded me of the Mythbusters episode, where they spent the whole hour rigging accurate contraptions trying to split an arrow. When they finished, they were about to write it off as "Busted", but then they brought in a pro. He split it after about 3 efforts. :D

Pretty amazing skill, but also good luck too i bet. If he could do it 2 or 3 times out of 5 then that drops a lot of the luck out of it. ( the arrow entering the other one i mean ). Damn impressive though.

I do find it amusing watching archery these days, especially during the Olympics. Its not just a bow, it seems to have about 50 things coming off it for some reason.

I've done archery for three years and in that time I've done three "Robin Hoods", as they're called. I couldn't do one on demand, mind. In fact they're rather annoying because they completely arse up an often expensive arrow.

There's the longrod and stabilisers, which as I'm sure you can guess, are there to stabilise the bow and weight it down somewhat by extending weight forward. There's the sight, or in the case of compound bows often a scope. Then there are liquid dampening pads attached to the limbs to suppress vibrations as the arrows' released, a clicker which makes a small "click" sound as the arrow reaches full draw, etc.. A few of my friends have bows like this, all told they are worth about a grand, depending on branding.

Barebow shooting is a different discipline altogether.

Recurve bows use clickers,

Ive never seen a compound archer use on because the cams come back to a point where you can stop then press your release aid :)

Nice, but would have been more impressive if the archer had shot a traditional style bow + wooden arrows, without a bowsight, stabilizer, clicker, etc.

Not saying that what that guy done was easy, but it certainly would have looked more impressive.
