Are the KOTOR games worth getting if you dont like stars at all? Well i dont dislike them, but im not really a fan of the films, is it like say similar to oblivion but in the future with light sabers etc?

Yes they are worth getting. You get the Star Wars flavour but there's no baggage from the movies here.

It's a little different from Oblivion in that the games offer a richer storyline and your choices seem to make more of an impact on the game. It's probably closer to Neverwinter Nights than Oblivion if that helps.

I agree totally, played it on the Xbox and loved it. It has (I think) no real references to the films, just set in the universe, Which youhave to admit is a pretty cool universe.

Ok thanks, ive read some reviews and they seem to be not related that much, so would i be ok in just buying kotor2?

You would be OK buying KotOR 2 but to be honest the first one is a better game.

I have to agree, i just started playing the first again, and it is a very good game, i just couldnt get into the 2nd after playing this though,

Also the first looks really good considering it's age, i was surprised

you really should play 1 first, 2 will likely make little sense without playing 2 and its a better game.

An yes i think there worth playing if you dont like star wars, probably most comparable to jade empire if you've played that (same developer after all)

Actually come to think of it if you dont like star wars you might be better off getting jade empire, really good game with a real time combat system.

If you only play one of them then play KOTOR1.

And yes, you should still like them if you aren't a star wars geek. I found the first one to be a very well done game.

They are good games and knowledge of Star Wars is pretty much irrelevant to your enjoyment of the game (although some of the races and general light/dark theme may mean a bit more to fans of the franchise).

KOTOR2, much like Deus Ex 2 is a good game in it's own right however it is inferior to the original. I'd recommend buying both and playing them in order.

Incidentally I am not really a fan of RPGs (haven't really got into any since Shining Force 2 / Legend of Zelda on the old 16bit consoles), but I thought KOTOR games were great.

KOTOR was my first venture into Star Wars universe and while I wasn't to hot on the fimls I still love the game. So yeah it's worth getting.

I would say that it might depend on why you don't like Star Wars: if you aren't into the whole lightsabres/force/jedis and blasters thing, then you might find it hard going. Good games though.

My friend dislikes star wars (but will watch them) and he Loved the Knights games. think of them more of a SciFi game then of a star wars game. they are based Long before the movies so some elements are similar like Jedi, the force and lilghtsabers but none of the characters from the moves are in them.

Give them ago i say!!!
