Kraken or alternative?

Nice work!

I think the H55 is a good pairing with the Kraken then Andy?

No. The hoses are too short tbh. You can see how I've fitted it, was purely luck. The hoses are not long enough to run the length of the card to the front of a PC they're miles too short. I would say this is because Corsair were on a budget.

I'd go with the same layout (because as I said before GPUs need far less cooling than CPUs) but a slightly better unit like the Kraken X60 is it? same thing only the hoses are epic long :)

I declare myself impressed with your efforts.

Thanks !

I have the Corsair carbide 540 andy which has a rear exhaust fan spot. Would the hoses reach the rear OK?

A while back I gave my Area 51 ALX to my step son on a very long term loan, with the only condition being that if he ever didn't want it any more or the hardware got so old it was pointless he give it back.

Well sadly the 1200w Alienware unit gave up the ghost so I've got it back. I almost took it to the dump, then decided to do some research and see if I could get it running on a stock PSU. Bit of soldering later and the case lives, and, fires up on my Corsair RM 750.

Still waiting for a few bits to come in from Hong Kong but have done most of the rewiring. Decided to throw in a Titan Black on a Kraken. Should provide more than enough grunt for her 1080p monitor :)

I'll report back with my findings once she's all built and up and running :)

Just the fan that comes with the Kraken. I don't intend on overclocking I just didn't want her rig to be noisy..

I'll check them tomorrow :)

Over an hour, could not break over 40c. That's impressive !! Will do another run and check the VRM temps soon. I'm not worried about the memory given that most of it is on the back of the card and not cooled any way.

Here's a link to a post in a thread with images on another site where I posted my R9 290 / Kraken G10 / Nzxt X41 mod keeping the baseplate (using an oven to bake off the reference heatsink)

http://www.overclock.net/t/1453555/...e-cooler-as-vrm-ram-heatsink/80#post_23312524

The VRMs run really, really cool - VRM1 25 idle, 58 under gaming load @ 1440p & VRM2 34 idle, 50 under load, 22c ambient. I did use arctic thermal epoxy to mount 3 little passive heatsinks onto the plate near the card bracket as the G10 fan doesn't actively cool there.

Yeah good to see. I don't know what's better; a small slither of aluminium or a fan actually blowing down on them.

I'm absolutely loving that Alienware now though. Wishing I could use two AIOs on my TBs. They do make a racket, especially in weather like we've been having.

I think the answer for me at least is get off my butt and start sorting out two Fury X. They have super long hoses on them so I can mount them in the Cosmos 2 easily.
