Recently I found out my cpu (5800x) to reach the limit of throttling (90)C during stress tests
meanwhile the liquid temp sets between 32C and 35C
The pump and the fans are working according to CAM
2800 RPM for the pump and 1800 RPM for the fans (running in performance mode)
I Checked and re plugged all the cables.
I Tried repasting the thermal paste, I used NT-H1, Thermaltake TG30 no luck.
I checked the mounting pressure (screws) and remounted it several times.
Rad is mounted on the top with fans oriented in exhaust configuration
I spent 2 days troubleshooting the issue with no luck, I even tried the old hyper212 and it was better. Should I file an RMA ?
System specs
ryzen 7 5800x (stock settings)
NZXT kraken X62
32GB G skill ripjaws v 3200 ram
Edit
I found out that is kinda normal for this chip anandtech reported 90c too
for those who encounter a similar problem and not comfrotable with 90c during stress test : undervolt or try Cruve Optimizer

Sounds like one of the backplate standoffs has been pushed out slightly over time by the mounting pressure. All it takes is a millimetre or less for temps to spike. And it's not easy to spot. Go around the back and pull and push (hard) on the four corners of the backplate. If there's any bit of movement, that'll be the cause.
Checked that and no movement of the backplate, and I tried to remount too.

Pump may be running but not moving coolant. If CLC is several years old it's likely lost some coolant. If coolant level is too low pump might not be circulating coolant like it should. You can usually tell by feeling the temp of hoses into and out of pump/waterblock and radiator. They should all feel about same temp with flow out of pump to radiator being a few degrees warmer than flow from radiator to pump.
Yea I would assume so, it's 3 years old or maybe the coldplate fins are clogged.
the thing is the hoses and rad are cool to touch not much to differentiate, the liquid temp is at 31c even tho the cpu is 90c.

Good of you to try. Bear with me, as everything you describe (for the time being), liquid temp etc, still points to the cooler working fine, and there's an issue somewhere with mounting (not your fault, can be cheap parts losing holding strength over time). I'm not talking out of my **** because I had a similar issue with a H100i.

In theory, the backplate could be unmovable, but one of the backplate standoffs is very slightly out of original place (cheap plastic mounting implementation). Trace a finger over the back and feel if any of them is raised slightly higher than the rest.

Or just remove the mounting completely, and run a stress test while applying firm, equal pressure with your fingers on the pump block. The temps may not be great without actual tighter mounting, but if they are at least better than with current mounting, that will identify the issue. Keep a hand free to shutdown the PC if temps spike too much, and obviously best to do this with case laid on its side, pump block facing up.
removed the backplate and applied manual firm pressure, the temps are worse specially in idle and during mild load (stress test doesn't matter cuz both reach 90c)

well, I figured after some research it's nothing wrong with cooler, the 5800x runs hot during benchmarks (cinebench,prime95)
since the temp during idle and gaming is kinda ok i can consider this to be normal?
Possible solutions for anyone who hate that 90c in stress test is undervolting or using curve optimizer
Temp is 75c now during cinebench with 4.6 locked at 1.25v with auto LLC
I tried the curve optimizer negative 30 offset all cores and it gave slightly higher temperature but with advantage of it boosting to 4.8 during lightly threaded workloads, so I guess I will stick with that
What is baffling to me is the stock temps(out of the box) -which would be scary for a new user- but now I know most 5800x run hot so I guess I am not an outlier ?
Edit :
I might try and get a Corsair A500 soon and see if there is any change and yes I know the NH-D15 is better but it's not available in my country

Yes the 5800X is a hot chip. But how does this make sense then?
That was bad data on my end, last time I tested the hyper212 was in winter and ambient changed a lot so that was my fault. Right now both reach 90c in stress test which still not ideal for the x62.
It should be more capable.
Still I don't know for sure, I will try to test with a beefy aircooler soon.

Haleem, watch this before buying an A500 and then decide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bpx8fosDWY
Thanks for the info, but sadly Noctua is not available here, might try to get dark rock pro 4 but it's hard to find, Will consider my options before the end of the month.
Cooler Master MasterAir MA620p is available but kinda mediocre right?
Sigh. I should have invested into 5900x(even tho I don't need its processing power) but I could have had fewer headaches rn:cry:
8 cores in one CCX with that power usage(120-140w) in very small peripheral area and most coolers are optimized for cooling the center so that doesn't help either.
