FREE Project PC for Overclockers / Extreme PC System builders.

Seems a shame to chuck this on the scrapheap (I will if nobody wants it) so I thought someone else could adapt it to cool their CPU.

I bought this brand new in 2000, used it for a couple of years and was going to use this to build a project phase cooled PC, but never got around to doing to it and want to leave this to someone else now. It's still in excellent working condition, the CPU temp. usually sits at -45C, is suprisingly quiet. However it weighs 70lbs so and should be kept upright (in the back of a car hatch/estate).

Here's some details for you ... it only runs at 1Ghz LOL, but the AMD Athlon CPU is cooled to under -40C allowing CPU speed to be boosted by 33%. This was a cutting edge 'phase change' PC CPU cooling technology in 2000 and the same principles are still used to cool today's cool CPU's (see links http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/kryotech,143.html and http://www.anandtech.com/show/432/2 for reviews).

It has 180W Danfoss compressor, and with the right modifications (from suppliers like http://www.under-the-ice.com) this could be adapted to cool a current AMD or Intel CPU allowing some serious overclocking, and should outperform an equivalent system built from a Prometeia Mach I or II.

It didn't sell on ebay (I'm not that bothered TBH), so I'm just giving it away for free. Here's a link the ad on ebay...

If anybody wants it then just reply to this post and I can give you my email address.

Andy,

I'm in Woking, Surrey, whereabouts are you?
BTW My email is REMOVED

PS Is water chill better than using an evap pipe etc to cool the CPU?

Hello...

Removed your email as to avoid its exposure in a public forum.

My trust is enabled that contains my email so drop me one on there :)

As for a water chiller being better than phase...

Not really no. A chiller basically means the fluid/coolant is just cooler thats all. If the coolant is cooler you can get a better overclock. If the unit could handle a higher load (280w at -40c as an example) then it would still be very worthy of being used as a phase unit to cool a cpu however this will take a lot of effort in stripping and rebuilding.

Changing the setup to cool around 1.5ltrs of coolant flowing at 4-500ltr/h would see the potential to hold a heat load of around 750w at around 0C or maybe 850-900w at about 11C which is good for a pair of 580s, a 980x and a motherboard chipset :)

My location... OcUK HQ. However I visit Caterham, wallingham, redhill, croydon etc on a regular basis so I can make a visit at some point if required.

OK thanks for telling me, but hopefully I can ask for the thread be closed after Kryo's gone. Sorry but I didn't have a lot of options as I can't PM on this forum and giving out my mobile no. to everyone is probably even worse!!

BTW this forum has a lot of good info ... very helpful as I'm going to be building up a PC soon.

Not a problem, I removed it anyway :)

Anyway, as said, if you want to PM, theres the "trust" box. Click on that, it usually has the facility to email and it does the same thing essentially.

Anyway, emailed.
