Has anyone used one of these that came from a plasma TV before hand? I've read all the reviews and am aware of it's pros and cons that are laid out in them but the one thing they seem to be lacking is comparisons to older plasmas, specifically how it's blacks compare to that on plasma tellys.

The plasma i'm using at the moment isn't particularly special, just an LG 50pa650t so isn't as good as the better plasmas from back then from the likes of Panasonic but it's still decent compared to most normal LED TV's. If i could stretch to OLED i would but it's a bit out of my reach.

I'll be in Edinburgh in a week or two so can pop into Richersounds then but i'm asking in case it drops any further in price in the black Friday sales.

yup and sent it back for that reason I came from a plasma.Could not get used haloing and bleed.

Also the one I had had the well know problem of the back parting form the screen. Its held on with sticky tape.

Build quality is lacking.

I would have ordered the KS7000 by now if it was n't for the complaints of motion stuttering and the back coming away. No TV should have the back held on partly with sticky tape. Shame as reviews seem to say it has the best picture quality in that price range.

Same! I was about to order one when I stumbled on this. What HiFi awarded it product of the year and its had great reviews everywhere. As you say, most reviews conclude in terms of picture quality it's punching above its weight.

As I'm going from a 5 year old Samsung 32" I might take my chances anyway. It's basically down to the KS7000 or Sony''s XD93.

Can't be bothered to start comparing all over again :o

I'm willing to gamble on the build quality as i'll buy it from John Lewis or Richersounds so will have their warranties anyway.

My plasma is on it's way out so don't have a choice i have to replace it.

Edit - reading through the 60 page thread on avforum now.

I bought a Samsung 65" Samsung UE65JS8500 from the previous generation for £1500 and aside form the obligatory bleed at the edges it is a phenomenal TV in terms of IQ, and the smart functions work without a hitch. I really don't miss my plasma.

£799 now for the 49 inch. I'm also undecided as i fear i'll be disappointed coming from a Panasonic plasma.

Here in good old 'Aussie' they dont sell the 49" (55" & 65" they do) verison.... im thinking of importing one from the UK via my bro. I would love to use one as a PC monitor as i watch lots of movies/ TV series...

My 55KS7000 turned up at the weekend with the Samsung 4k player and 450 soundbar and so far so good. No back falling off shenanigans.

The image is really lovely. I used the AVForums settings which seem great. Watched some Django Unchained (blu-ray) and we ohhed and ahhed a lot. The free 4K films weren't in the box so waiting for Samsung to post those.

The freeview TV built in also looked pretty good. Seems to depend on the program. The BBC programs look the best. Tried some Amazon Prime and this also looked really nice (Walking Dead). Haven't noticed any of the motion issues so far. Maybe the odd bit here or there.

For the price it seems mind-blowing value with the half price 4K player too.

Any chance you might hook your new 55" Sammy upto ya PC? I'd love to know what it might be like.... BF1? etc

I have an old 46" C530 Sammy, backlit, VA panel, and only 14ms input lag which partly why I kept it a long time for gaming, a couple of days ago I bought a Sony KD49XD8088BU, I was actually quite excited, I was expecting quite a big upgrade but boy was I wrong, yes the 4K content on it was stunning but outside of that I honestly preferred my old TV, mainly due to the Sony having absolutely no blacks whatever, and I didn't realise until then how important that was to the overall image quality, I had both sets on my floor and everyone said the black performance and screen uniformity of my old TV killed the Sony, I ended up taking the Sony TV back.

I just thought I'd share this experience because what it made me realize is that edge-lit led tv's right now really are only a stop gap until OLED take over, after looking at a 65" OLED in person I just don't think I could accept anything less, the difference in screen quality, mainly the blacks is astounding.

OLED's have better blacks but they lack in the brights. Once OLED's reach 1000 nits without burning images all over the place then I will look at one i'm just not a fan of them currently.

John Lewis are still price matching Black Friday deals.

Pulled the trigger yesterday on the 55, got it accepted at fridays cost.
Arrives tuesday
