KUBE 2 subwoofer - standby mode issue

Hi folks,

I have a Sony DA2400ES Amp, and recently purchased the KEF 2005.3 style speaker set.

The issue I am having is with the KUBE 2 sub.

It seems to switch itself to standby mode (red light at back as opposed to green), even when I am still watching a movie / listening to music / playing the 360.

I'm guessing the input voltage from the amp is not high enough?

In the manual for the KUBE 2, it advised setting both volume and crossover to maximum. Having done this, the amp has auto-set the sub to -14 db. (the amp manual suggested setting volume to just over half on the sub...)

Is this the issue? Could I correct the problem by using the amp to set the sub to say 0db or +? db and manually turning the volume down on the back of the sub? I am away from the setup at the moment, but when I get back to it I would like an idea of how to sort it.

Any help / advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

How is the sub connected to the amp? (Hi or low level)

Have you set the satelite speakers to small and made sure the sub is enabled in the menu?

Do you actually get any output from the sub?

Hi there, thank you very much for the reply.

Yes, the speakers are set to small, and the sub is enabled. I don't understand what you mean by hi or low level connection though?

I do get output from the sub, but it goes into standby mode when I don't want it to, it seems to be during quiet / less bass-y scenes it goes into standby, which is very noticeable. Subsequently if a loud scene comes on it kicks back in.

Set the sub output on the amp to 0dB then adjust the volume on the sub. The output from the amp is far too low so the sub is thinking the amp is off.

The volume on the sub should usually be no more than half.
