Behind you... Naked!
Recently, I have suddenly been having issues withj both my HP Laptops, in that Sabayon would fail when I updated it.
I also like Mint and so I went back to mint, but that also does the same now?

Only since the last few months, before that, they were rock solid.

Anyway, after some hunting around, I needed a distro that would do most of the work for me, and I found that the latest Kubuntu and I seem to have fallen in love.

So, much so, that I am using my steam account and playing a number of games on that, plus, I am using playonlinux and thats allowed me to play games almost perfectly.

I feel like scratching I ❤ kubuntu on the tree in the garden #gayyyeee LOL

very easy to dual boot

most of the linux distros these days give you an option to install alongside windows

personally i have a seperate 20gb partition for linux

download a load of different distros and try them with a usb stick

most can be tried as a live enviroment and see which one you prefer

i love elementary os myself

Not much of a cinnamon fan
Moved to gnome only because KDE went silly with v4 with all that rotating icons junk, but Gnome and the unity junk was even worse, hence MATE. Cinnamon, no. Cant give a fair reason why, I just dont like it.
Moved to KDE not that long ago and I have enjoyed it since.

Dual Booting?
Yes, most will let you do this and will have the tools to do it for you.
I myself dont like the idea and dont do it. I did for a while, but I decided to simply have one or the other.

Elementary? Not tried it. It look delicious though, so who knows.

I hated kde 4 when i first saw it but gone back to it and started using gnu/linux as my main OS.
love being able to have window rules to precisely place apps, the random tiling of windows drove me mad in gnome.

The KDE version of Canonical's take on Debian testing? No, that's not going to be the best distribution ever. It's vaguely possible to sort the various distributions into an order of preference, but it's subjective at the best of times. I'm glad you like it.

I strongly dislike Ubuntu. I don't like the integration with Amazon, I don't like the GUI, I don't like sudo and I really don't like the daily crashes. I'm still glad you like it though :)

Arch is by far the best Linux distribution. Packages are always up to date, more so than any other distro. It has the best community and the most useful wiki (Its so good I know people who dont use arch that swear by it).

And on top of all that you can build the distro you want...not the one that someone else wanted.

Sure it may take a weekend to get it up and running but it is worth it.

Mint 16 Cinammon just came out too :D

There's been a lot of fuss around Mint not auto upgrading kernels out of the box.

Best distro ever ? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............................

I would probably go with a RHEL or centos for production

Best distro for me at home .... Ubuntu LTS base without a desktop environment. Still using Windows 8 as GUI :D Can't see anything appealing for me to run back to a Linux desktop yet.

I want to weigh in but I just can't think of a suitable answer, it just depends on what you need it for... I use RHEL at work and (at the moment) Mint at home...

I keep meaning to give something with the Awesome WM a go, probably Arch

This for me is one of the greatest things about Linux. If you're a home user and you just want something easy to install and use then there are so many easy Ubuntu derivatives to cater for every possible GUI taste. Then there is RHEL, SUSE, CentOS, Scientific for enterprise solutions. Gentoo, Arch and their derivatives for the tinkerers. Even things like dd-wrt and FreeNAS for really specific applications. There is something for everyone.

I want to use Linux not only for basic internet and office stuff, but also for gaming too!

Steam has really given me a semi now and I have now started to only buy games that are goig to work on Linux. Sure, there are a load of naff games but its early days I can live with that, after all, I grew up on the 8 bits.

I also like how well playonLinux works in Kubuntu too!

If sabayon still worked like it used to before about 5 months ago, then Id be back on there like a shot, but alas, its simply not happening and so Im not moving.

Hell, I also lovecrunchbang and I have that on my wifes mini samsung laptop notepad / book thingy... Its great on that.

Oh, and one issue that I still have not resolved with Kubuntu is that the Wireless works fine while I am installing, but can I get it to work afterwards? Can I heck.

I found an od fix... If I plug in a wireless USB stick, I can then enable wireless, and if I pull the stick out, the Onboard stays on? - Hows that for stupid.
