A few weeks ago i got my antec kuhler h2o RMA'D because it was making EXTREMELY LOUD rattling noises (the pump), It started very quiet, but got increasingly louder.

Now i have a new unit, it is making the quiet rattling noises like the old one did just before it broke.

I have a lian li 120mm fan plugged into the pump, and the pump is plugged into the CPU_1 fan header.

The noise (currently goes away after 5 minutes or so, then it makes the 'normal' slight buzz/hum sound which you cant hear unless you put your ear up to it.

Thoughts on what i should do? I'm worried that this is going the same way as the last one.

Does it matter that i have plugged a lian li 120mm fan (bog standard black fan, nothing fancy) into the pump instead of the original antec one?

Im sure other people do this too.

Don't know much about the antec kuhler 620 but its normal for watercooling pumps to make a buzzing noise. All ddc pumps do it, and its noticeable even being a good bit away from the pc.

no i mean on top of the buzzing, there is an irregular and loud rattling sound that comes and goes like on>off>on>off>on>off for every 5 seconds (constantly) and it goes away after a few minutes and turns into the normal sound.

Misread your post :( Hopefully this one doesn't die! a lot of those closed loop coolers must be made of low quality parts as I've read nothing but trouble about all of them.. Corsair, Antec and Cool-it.

Sounds like air bubbles in the system moving past the pump. You could try tapping it while running to get the air out of the pump and back in rad.

I was think of adding a separate reservoir to mine to fix this issue.

Maybe also exit the pipes at the base of the rad and not at the top (if side mounted) so air pocket can collect at top of rad.

it isnt air bubbles, that sounds different... ive done all these things to the old one... it it mounted with the pipes coming out of the bottom. It stops after maybe 5 - 10 minutes. When it got really bad the first time i could only make it behave itself by running prime95 for about an hour so the coolant warmed up.

Tommorrow i think i am going to unplug the fan from the pump and plug it into a seperate fan header so the pump gets full power... Maybe it is running at the wrong speed because it cant get enough wattage.

I have now plugged the fan and the pump into seperate headers, problem solved! So i probably did not need to send the old one back to err... the online retailer which i purchased it from... Oh well, i'm sure they will get over it. (dont worry it wasnt here :P)

My temps have risen by 2 - 3°C now though because i have set both of the fans to speed 4 of 9 to quieten it down (they were on 7 of 9 when i made this thread)
