HDMI KVMs have wider availability and cheaper but DP ones are a better bet for higher resolutions and refresh rates (also could be some considerations of HDCP support - some HDMI ones claim they have it but you never get it working - though shouldn't be the case with decent brands).
I actually gave up on the video side for non-server use as the video always seems to have some compromise and likewise audio and just use a keyboard/mouse switch and swap inputs on my monitor OSD instead which is a bit of a pain but better compatibility and performance.
