At the moment I have 2 monitors, 1 for each pc. Moving in to a smaller place soon and looking to have 2nd screen for main monitor but switchable back to using on 2nd pc when I need to. I know KVM switches are prolly the way to go but I was hoping there are switches out there just for video? I cant find any myself.
Also would this method work or would it give windows a headache? Hoping I can just push a button on main pc to make it switch to a single monitor profile.

With my KVM switches it's a doddle. Just one click on the button on top of the tiny KVM box and it switches between PCs. As long as the KVM is installed fine, the OS hasn't got much to do with it. Mine was all controlled through the KVM, and I imagine it'll be far simpler if you don't want one that does USB M/K which mine did. As all the KVM has to do is switch to the relevant video feed when requested.

Ok is it worth getting a decent one, or can any cheep thing do the job. Its digital display, might get usb mouse / kb one though just incase I dont like the extra clutter lol.

Mine was a cheap jobby for £30 2 PCs via DVI with 4USBs (2 for M/K) from a well known electronics shop. It's still going strong, so what's your budget?
