On Thursday I noticed the back box on my Fiesta was blowing so I took it into Kwik Fit for a quick look and they confirmed it was the back box that needed doing. I dropped the car off first thing on Friday, at this point the box had totally failed and was very noisy and would have probably got me pulled and I had to catch a lift into work. The car was ready at lunchtime so I got a lift up there in my lunch break and picked the car up and I had a quick look and all seemed ok and I handed over the cash. Today I had a proper look under the car and saw this:

The back box had a noticeable indent in it and I wasn't too happy. I phoned them up and I took the car back for inspection and they said it was not a problem, I was slightly miffed as a paid good money for a new back box and had I known it was like that in the first place and didn't have to rush back to work I certainly wouldn't have accepted that at all. I demanded that they put a new back box on and EVERY back box they pulled out was dented up. The man said "that's when they throw them in the lorry". What a complete joke. I would have usually stayed with the car but work are so inflexible I couldn't get the time off to get it sorted.

I have had work done by another Kwik-Fit and I was quite happy with the service, I am not going to put down every Kwik-Fit but be careful as some branches are run by monkeys.

Your thread title FAILS.

They did change the back box.

Every box was dented, hardly a reason to call the branch staff monkeys

You get dents in them, ive seen stuff supplied with dents, it doesnt actually make any difference to it tbh, it think its a tad unfair to blame krap fit in this case.

my backbox has a dent in it due to horrid sixth form speedbumps and learning that small, low cars need to go VERY slowly over them :D

As Hxc alludes, just go over some random speed bumps a bit quick. In no time at all you'll not be able to even see the factory fitted dent. ;)

Yeah the title fails.

But still it's abit of a bummer. Kwik Fit are pretty good but as you said some are bad. And in some cases verrry baaaad.

When I worked in the trade, we got supplied loads of slightly dented exhausts, never had any problems.

Monkeys because they think it's acceptable to have a back box that's been thrown around. I got the thread title wrong as I forgot to change it before I posted :(

Why did you take it to Kwik-Fit?

Didn't have much choice, they were the closest to my workplace to make my life easy.

I'm not greatly fussed but when you pay good money for a part only to be told that it's been thrown around in a truck and been treated with no care is very annoying. I have been happy with my Local Kwik-Fit and they only charged £120 for a whole system on my Escort so it may just be the one near my work. I think next time I won't be lazy and I think I'll get the spanners out and do a job like that myself.

i thought you only had a short time where you could change it!

I love the ones that don't fit anywhere near right, you spend an hour or two with the gas bending them and getting them to fit so nothing knocks for free...and then the customer still bloody moans about the price...

If I sold you a computer case that was supposed to be brand new, but really had dents in it, would you say "oh that's ok"?
