I'm just about to build a PC for day to day stuff, a bit of photoshop, some hdtv, maybe the odd game occasionally. Would I see any real benefit spending more on a 2MB intel over a 1MB? q6600 seems a bit overkill for my use.

Thanks mate. The gigabyte DS3R looks good for the price so probably that. The one with 8 USB ports on the back.

I'll overclock probably about as far as the retail HSF lets me as I want to keep it reasonably quiet and cheap.

Does that sound like a good idea?

Thanks mate. The e2160 is only £42 so I'll grab that for the slight price difference. Would be silly not to. The 9x multi should be plenty paired with some decent ddr800 I reckon.

It's been ages since I've done this :D My trusty NF7-S sadly passed away in the night lol. The poor old thing has been hammered for about 5 years. Shoving excessive voltage through components might shorten their life but 5 years is good going if you ask me.

Will do mate, I'm hoping it should all arrive tomorrow. Get the OS loaded and then it's straight into the BIOS for some free mhz :D

Stuff is so cheap now! I got the mobo, 2GB tight RAM, e2160 and a hd3850 delivered for under £260.

Just so you know monkeyspank i've got an e2160 on it's way right now! Can't hack this Celeron D any longer and can't quite justify e8400 prices.

If you decide to overclock it then let me know how you get on! :)

gt

Mine came today, it's an M0 :D
Now to sit here watching the clock til it reaches 5.30

Are you sure it wasn’t a Ti500? if it wasn’t you got royally ripped off :p

Yeah I know :D Didn't care at the time. I had it on pre-order. Never again lol.

Straight in at 3Ghz 333x9, 1.4V on the stock cooler (and paste - always try the easiest option first ;) ). Nice and cool and quiet. That'll do for me :)

Now to find a DD encoding sound card. Sooo expensive for something that was built in to the NF7-S!
