lo guys, I've recently bought a server from INX and it runs fine besides the fact that I paid for 100tick and it runs at 30. I also can't seem to get the maximum players (8slots) it's just locked to 4.

Is there no way the server can just change the maxplayers dependant on map type?

For example, can't I just make it so that when I change to a versus those extra 4 slots open up? Is there even a way I can force it to just run versus only, I can probably host survival locally.

Cheers

oh dear you bought from inx :/

Anyway, apparently if u contact them and demand you 100 tick they will change it. Also make sure your rates are set to be able to detect 100 tick

commands are:

rate 25000
cl_updaterate 100
cl_cmdrate 100

Friend has recently rented one and so far it's fine for us, no idea what Oxy is talking about.

To answer your question, I haven't managed to get a copy of the OcUK server config yet, but using the lobby and search key system will resolve your problems.

In Server.cfg, type the following line:

//Command to set server search key
sv_search_key marc69

I believe the one we have currently defaults to 4 slot Coop No Mercy, even though the server has 8 slots. If you use the lobby and the search key for your server, it will default to the settings you want. Just type in console from within the lobby as leader:

sv_search_key marc69

And then click "Start Game" and it should load to yours!

If you are playing VS lobby, it will load the VS level you want, same with survivor, coop, etc.

Sorry Knubje, with the server messing up last night I completely forgot about getting you some of the config files. Will sort that now.

Hah no worries mate. We actually got it running nicely with basic settings and simple search key capability. The lobby does the rest, all the "little" settings we can always look at later. The guy who owns it already has sourcemod running and we are in the process of gathering steamID's etc :)

What's important is that it runs well, survival, vs and coop and we can connect to it via a lobby with the lads.

Whenever you get time dude, just wing me some cfg's via email ;)

Cheers guys.

I've managed to sort out the server slot issue using the search key (Cheers), but sometimes it does take a real long time to find my server, sometimes I have to leave the game and let a friend be lobby leader to actually find it. Is there any reason for this?

Also, I've mailed INX gaming about it, I'm just waiting on there response again, does L4D even support 100 tick servers?

The rates are all set up correctly as well, could sourcemod / metamod be limiting the tick rate?

Cheers

Reason for this = L4D lobby/search is a little borked at times, just the way it is. Mostly good though!

Probably supports 100 tick, it is source engine.

Don't think sourcemod would affect tickrate, but might do. Here is a useful link if you are interested in networking, regarding Source:
