Hi guys,

Looking at getting a cheap game for my pc, finally completed HL2 Ep2, which I've had for years, just never got round to completing it, although I'm a big fan of HL2?

Anyway, I've decided Left 4 Dead looks good, but don't know which one to get.

Which would you say was better, and does it matter if I just get the second, or will I miss out on the storyline?

Yo dawg, we heard yo like L4D1 so we put the L4D1 maps into L4D2 so yo can play L4D1 while yo play L4D2.

In summary, L4D2 is the only sensible option.

i would be interested in playing some more L4D2... either co-op or vs...

I just couldn't get into LFD2 whereas the first I played tons, maybe it was the weapons and graphics that just weren't gnarly enough in the sequel.

L4D2 definitely has more players and has the L4D1 maps anyway so it is the sensible choice.

L4D1 is by far the better game however....techniques, movement, maps, stylistic (L4D2 is the TF2 of the franchise), bright and colourful Vs dark and scary.

LFD2 is the sensible choice due to maps and players but I never enjoyed it as much as the original, I really hated the way they changed the dual pistols in the second game, firing much slower and the general feel.

L4D actually scared me when I first got it (didn't help playing it on my own hung over on a cold dark Belfast night)

L4D2 didn't, it just annoyed me. The tension goes when you play either enough but the 2nd just had none to start with. Too many silly additions and too many specials made it less amusing (plus there was a mod level for the first one on a sunken tanker that was awesome)

So yeah the first one is a much better game but the 2nd one has more to offer as more internet people play it.

I actually much rathered l4d to l4d2. The addition of a jockey really ruins the game on a public server as it's so hard to use it on a team which isn't coordinating. Furthermore, the campaign was better on l4d and the maps. Having said that, if l4d2 contains l4d now then you might as well get it and just put up with the jockey, it weakens the team so much though.

Also there isn't any offcuts dedicated servers any more for l4d2.

L4D1 was definitely the best. So many good memories from playing it with the OCUK folk. I don't think any game recently has united us as much as that did!
