What the hell is going on?
All my friends pre-orders from Play came yesterday, you can even buy on steam for today.
Yet all the retailers and super-markets thismorning are refusing to sell saying release date is the 20th?
Tried HMV, Game, Gamestation, Argos, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsburys (Mods delete if these count as competetors)
all of them say the same - 20th release, even on the official site it says 'Available 17th november'

Cant believe it >;(

-edit-
According to the official blog its 17th world wide, and 20th in the UK, why? :( Not good.

Well i only asked because it was 17th when i pre-ordered, and it still says 17th on my confirmation, and some mates recieved it yesterday on the 360.

When did it change to 20th?

Even on steam it changed release dates after so many hours..

Manager in Game Birmingham said (Copy/paste from PC forum)
"A manager at Game in Birmingham said Valve are staggering the release date so the servers dont get over-loaded.
America + Asia 17th november + Steam pre-orders + X ammount of new Steam purchases + X ammount of 360 pre-orders.
19th November = Available on Steam.
20th November = Available on 360."

Valve fail at release dates?

I'm sure it has always been the 20th as games tend to be released on Fridays with the odd exception like GTAIV and MW2, which were worldwide launches because they were such big titles.

I realise its usually a friday, but theres something messed up with this release..
Check the valve forums, at midnight everyones pre-orders unlocked and people could play. It was available to pay for and download on the store as well.

9am UK time hits and bang, some peoples are now re-locked, some peoples still works, some people can download and play now, some people get 'pre-order now! 20th release' on the steam store.

Valve website says 'Available now! 360, PC retail and Steam!'
Valve blog says its released on 20th..
Some people pre-orders arrived on time for 17th, others are told not untill 20th, EVEN if it states the release date of 17th on their pre-order conformation email and never got informed via phone or email that it got changed.
A mate got a copy thismorning in Tesco Worcester, yet its not available anywhere else? and 'supposedly' the release date is the 20th.
Valve screwed up?

Yeah I think it's probably another case of it being the US release date. As we discovered recently with MW2 and ODST, Tuesday is the usual release day over there, which is why for a worldwide release, we also got it on the Tuesday.

dude, you've named like a million competitors. Doesnt matter if it's in bad or good light, you better get rid!

The Rules were clarified last week in light of the MW2 release.
It's only if it's a direct competitor selling PC hardware that it's an issue. Supermarkets aren't a direct competitor with OCUK.

I think anyway that Valve clearly made a mistake releasing it early to Europeans. Tesco probably put it up on their shelves, as it probably came in on their Monday delivery and somebody sold it, unknowingly that it was not meant to release until Friday. Also, chances are that if somebody pre-ordered it online, they might be getting it now or very soon.
