L4D2 replacement............

Hi,

I have an older PC (i5-760, GTX750Ti) and play a lot of L4D2 and the custom maps.

However is there any game which is in a similar vein which is a bit newer at all? ie 4 player and they have to play co-op.

AFAIK nothing really that is a like for like but newer replacement - there are a few other games out there but mostly more in the style of DayZ, etc. there is the zombie mode in most recent COD/BO games but lacks some of the things that make L4D great.

EDIT: I was focusing a bit on the zombie style.

It's a very different game but Payday 2 has 4 player coop, there's different ways to approach the levels but it's good if you have 3 other friends to play it with.

You could look into Warhammer Vermintide as well which I think is like L4D but I haven't played it.

i swear they ported all of l4d maps to number 2 so would be a step back in game play and less maps

Killing floor 2 has 6v6 pvp and usual zombies so yea for me i own both and yet to play KF but rcently went back to L4D2 i thought old and going off my list but no and here is why. At 4K it is a amazing looking game on Nvidia driver level High quality IQ settings with Ambient Occlusion at 4K is great. Compared to games more modern it spanks em because source is a great engine (Titanfall 2) for clarity and IQ at 4K.

And then there are the mods, Weapons and if you type in HD on workshop or google L4D2 mods for GFX weapons you will see lists people have done. I have one for skybox cinematic lighting and HDremake and it topped off with crosshair 0. Now relax and have some fun and you will see how modern this game can still look with the right settings/card/monitor.

On the plus side you get to play the game without the annoying special infected.

For how generic L4D is on paper, there really isn't much like it but those 3 are by far the closest. You should probably look at Killing Floor first as it has the same sort of vibe, it is essentially L4D except in an arena and not a progressive map.

killing floor games are good I remember the 1st 1, I'm sure you can go dual desert eagles.

Killing Floor 2 I highly recommend.

Could look at Contagion (like a slower paced L4D with objectives, plus some other games modes that are quite fun. Can be really difficult as well):

Another +1 for contagion. You have to get headshots otherwise they don't die... for a second time.

There is a game called No More Room in Hell which looks fun and 8 player but never played it.

Contagion looks so old compared to L4D though having compared KF2 and L4D2 i honestly as being one of the most anal people on here say hand on heart i think both look fantastic but obviously Contagion looks way worse than the two.

Also the sad thing is the headshot only mode is just one of the many things they can do through mutation? I think Versus has a few mutation but i think most people dont even realize these days. Give me some new weapons, A few doors to weld alongside a welder and a perk or something that will add some cutomization to each class. I would take this with Vulkan API and be a happy man so i wonder with this thread wth is keeping them with L4D3?
