Anyone know if there is likely to be a discount for L4D owners? My eternal pessimism figures there won't be, or at least if there is it'll be something trivial like 5% off via Steam (when Steam is typically always considerably more expensive outside of the States anyway).

Reluctant to buy this just in case in less than a year they say "oh hey guys L4D3 is coming soon!"
 
from my point of view its l4d 1 with new weapon skins and maps ... with wat 2 more special zombies total let down for me :( ashame i was tempted to buy it
 
4 new characters, new weapons/mechanics, 3 new zombies and 5 new maps... kinda is a new game. Isn't it? They're offering more than the first.


I get where you're coming from... but would you prefer they just release the same game they have now in another year?

More like a mod really, and nothing they couldn't have easily retrofitted to the first game.

The engine - as far as I can make out - is identical.

Whilst the argument "wouldn't you rather they release what they've worked on as soon as its finished" has some logic, I still feel like a beta tester who paid full price for the privilege.

I know what you mean. A sequel with new maps, characters, and weapons. Improved AI and enhancements! Its scandalous! What exactly were you expecting?
 
i think its going to better than people think...Valve have never let the gaming public down...i think it looks similar but i also think there will be many many finer points to the game once you play it...im buying it anyhow;)

I'm a big fan of L4D and will probably buy L4D2 as well, without getting into the whole L4D2 debate I don't understand why people are getting uptight about it. Are FIFA 07, FIFA 08, FIFA 09 and FIFA 2010 any different?

no there all the same....but the fifa franchise was a badly designed game compared to ISS in the first place,whereas l4d has good roots....."good roots make strong tree";)
 
The trouble is we've been spoiled with the amount of free gubbins we've had for TF2.

So what has been an incredible effort on their part for TF2 has now come back to haunt them as it's the new expectation!

LFD was wierd for me -- I got totally, TOTALLY hooked on it -- then suddenly totally and utterley bored by it. I'm not even really sure why .. suddenly it just felt that I'd experienced everything the game would allow me to experience 500 times .. got jumped on and smokered and tanked - like - 1000 times .. and that's it, I was 'spent'!

Exactly the same for me. I was playing it for like 15-20 hours a week and then just stopped playing all together.

Still 140 hours gameplay for £13 isnt bad at all.
 
Zoey looks like shes put a bit of weight on in that vid :D. Pretty funny but would have been better with some sound effects from the guns.

"Ive been in there for 2 hours man".

I was originally a L4D2 doubter after feeling let down with the lack of add-ons they said for L4D1 BUT Valve have NEVER screwed us yet so I have faith in them to deliver.
