So while out and about I picked up a new copy of LA Noire the Complete edition, I installed it and now it won't launch. I get to the point where I can select language and graphics but after that nothing.

I have the specs to play the game and have re-installed it and restarted my PC but no luck.

Any help would be great.

Not really giving us a lot to go on with "nothing" :p

Any error messages?
Does the game window just close and go to desktop?
Does it hang?
Does the sound go dodgy?
Are the fans on the GPU going nuts?
What does fraps say?
Have you checked event viewer?

etc etc, you have to tell people what you have tried otherwise we could go through a million and one questions. The first things to check though, drivers up to date and have you googled the problem?

When I say nothing I mean nothing. No error messages, no sounds, no fans spinning up. I opened task manager and it is an active process for about 20 seconds.

I have tried what rock-star suggests after a goggling the problem but no luck.

When you say it was an active process for 20 seconds do you mean the window stays black or you are at the desktop with no game window but it is visible in task manager?

Have you tried running at the bare minimum settings?

What graphics card have you got and is it up to date?

Is it the complete edition and is it on steam? (not sure if it is steamworks) - Just realised you put complete edition :)

Are you in admin?

I'm not sure if this is the solution you are referring to but I'll stick it here incase you haven't tried it http://support.rockstargames.com/en...steam-version-of-l-a-noire-on-windows-vista-7

Seems like a common issue if you have the amazon disc...

Tried this one? http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=32877249&postcount=19

Another solution

Two more

Personally I would scour google and try every fix. Failing that I would inspect what the game is doing in event viewer and resource monitor. Good luck :)

1. It is a active process but there is no window or anything at all, it shows up in the active processes.
2. yes and still the same
3. 560ti (2gb) and is up to date
4. Physical complete edition I picked it up in Game
5. Admin

I shall go through those solutions that you mentioned, and try that. Thanks for the help anyway.

The nvidia dll seems like the most plausible fix, if all else fails I'd give some beta drivers a go for your graphics card..

The name of the game folder contains a space by default. You must change this so that there are no spaces:

De-install the game.

Create an LANoir directory without spaces.

Now install the game to this directory and it fetches a patch from the net automatically. The installation of this patch doesn't work! You find the patch in the appropriate download directory, probably the directory you installed the game in. Cancel install and move this patch to a safe location.

Deinstall the game and additionally delete the remaining folder. Recreate it (again without spaces).

Reinstall the game in this directory. The installation will again hang on trying to install the patch. Cancel the installation.

The faulty automatic patch process creates files with the extension '-patched'. You must delete these.

Move the saved patch file to the installation directory and run it manually. The files with the '-patched' extension should now be created correctly.

Should work now.

Took me 6 hours to figure that out!
