Just NTFS formatted my new 640GB Caviar SE16 (thank you OCUK!). I labelled it "Caviar SE16" during the format and after it was finished it showed 108MB of used space (even though the drive has never been used).
I've noticed in testing that whenever you name a drive during an NTFS format it uses a large amount of disk space, whereas unnamed NTFS and either named or unnamed FAT32 formats use basically nothing.
Does any one know why?
