I'm looking at getting my second X-Box next week and although I'm mainly getting it for the Kinect I also want to play through all 3 Halo games and the first two Gears of War games. Whilst that should keep more busy for quite a few months and Gears of War 3 will be out at the end of the years I am wondering what else is on the horizon (or what else I should be looking to get)

Being a PS3 owner and just played the PS only Little Big Planet 2 and seeing Killzone 3 out next month with Uncharted 3 at the end of the year the 360 really looks like it's lacking in similar x-box only titles or are there titles that I'm just not aware of?

There are 6 Halo games if you want the complete experience

1. Reach
2. Halo
3. Halo 2
4. Halo 3
5. Halo 3 ODST
6. Halo wars

:D

Uh oh!

Now let's wait for the whole Xbox vs PS3 discussion to begin :)

Why should it? MS dont announce games as early as Sony normally does, MS focus this year seems to Kinect with both casual and core games as well as Forza 4 and Gears 3. I expect more MS games to be announced at GDC/E3 for the end part of the year though, also im not sure if and when some of those Japanese developed kinect games will make it here this year or at all.

I'm noticing more and more people making threads about this, it seems that the PS3's massive exclusive line-up this year is making an impression, I've got to admit if I only owned a 360 I'd be a bit bummed out too tbh, that's not to say that there aren't some good multi-plats still coming to the system but as msmalls has already said in MS's press announcement just after Christmas they said that thier main focus this year would be Kinect.

That being said though if the rumours about a Halo CE remake are true then that's all I need from MS this year.

Theres some great PS3 exclusives for sure but if we allow Kinect exclusives it's really not looking so bad for the 360 either.

Yep but as we dont know much (or anything?) about many of the Kinect games you cant really add them, same as unannounced move stuff. Why you turned a list of games coming out for the PS3 as asked for into a list war anyway? I can put random unkown kinect games down on a 360 list if that will make you feel better :D

Did you read my post in the official kinect thread? Theres quite a few games with trailers announced for this year.

Was having the same discussion with a guy at work today. He's been into his 360 since release. He is very much into xbox360 but even he said today that he's buying a PS3 as he has no interest in kinect at all...

When I did mention that PS3 move could be used for Killzone 3 he did question the motives behind kinect and i can understand why..

PS3 has a great line up, I do hope MS are just keeping their top games underwraps...

i'm not taking sides, but I can and have heard why 360 owners are looking at the PS3 release list and thinking... I don't want a kinect dance game or something where I wave my hands around etc..

i want games like killzone 3, uncharted 3, little bit planet 2, infamous 2 etc... and if I must have move control games, then why not tiger woods 12, virtual tennis 4 and killzone 3 etc...

Like I say, maybe MS are just keeping tight-lipped and as the year goes on lots of great titles coming out.....forza 4 could be good though??

i don't know, i really don't. 360 did have some good years though and maybe time to catch up on back catalog? lol

bare in mind that multi-platform titles tend to run better on 360. so that gives a couple of extra titles.

"dons flame proof jacket."

Come on then why will they run better on the 360?

I think that the PS3 will still be my console of choice even once I've got my 360 but if there's actual proof that the likes of Batman AA2 & Bulletstorm will run better on that than the Playstation then of course it will make the investment look more worth it :)

My understanding is that the PS3 is better in terms of hardware

Not really what the PS3 gains it lacks in other areas in commparison to the 360. The console is only as good as the developers and exclusive games would hopefully be better programmed and suited to the console. There are arguments as to why each is better and there are always fans of each willing to defend it to the death.
Just remember that Chuck Norris games on a 360 so let that be a lesson...
:D:D

Below has generalisations, but I think its representative - so beware :p

Developers have a finite time to make a game and port it - the X360/PC is an easier platform to develop for than the PS3 (mostly because its a maturer platform thats more familiar to code for, so effort is focused on game development than 'learning the ropes') so naturally a lot use those platforms as their leads and then port over to the PS3 which normally leads to poorer performing ports on the PS3 compared to PC/X360 (lets just ignore the whole thing about ports to PC being below par normally).

If the PS3 is taken as the lead its harder to develop for (thats not news :p) so it takes more time to get to the end product and perhaps not as polished as product as the dev would like (they dont usually have the luxury of ultimate resources/time moreso than ever), but it seems this leads to better overall quality across platforms (Im not aware of X360 games suffering due to the PS3 being the lead platform - but Im sure someone will mention some).

Also some developers farm out ports (i.e Platinum Games farmed out the PS3 version to their publisher Sega which is the main reason it sucked until it got patched) so that can also lead to poorer titles too...

So in general it matters whats the lead platform and as PC/X360 share a similar coding system (DX/XNA?) [in the past/currently] it makes more sense for devs to use that as a default basis - but things seemingly are slowly changing with a rare few now using the PS3, now there is better understanding how to 'unlock its potential' (sic)...

For arguments sake when it comes to exclusives generally those developers have good backing from the platform owner and normally the time/resources to ensure their titles use whatever grunt that platform has to offer and sometimes special privileges in what level of access they have to the system (Naughty Dogs a good example)...

ps3ud0
