Lack of Adventure games and I don't mean RPGs.

When I was growing up I was really into these adventure games.

Monkey Islands, Day Of The Tentacle, Maniac Mansion and Sam and Max. There seems to be no money in adventure games at all now which is really sad.

There was nothing like mixing two items in your inventory to give you a wet mouse or somet lol.

Are there any next gen adventure games on the horizon?

I'd love to see a massive Little Big Adventure. I think Twinsen would be brilliant as a next-gen adventure.

an indy game along the same lines as the dialogue scenes from mass effect with more of an adventure game feel

New CSI is well short though. Storys fun I love the game but it's always so damn short and not worth the moneys :/

Monkey island 5 has not been announced unfortantly.. no one knows if it will be made.

simon the sorcerer 4 will be out next yr i belive. i miss proper adventure games they rock.

There's always the odd few about although mainly on the PC in my experience. I recently reviewed Darkness Within: http://play.tm/story/14637 but I wouldn't really recommend that if you want high quality

Zack & Wiki (Wii) apparently plays out like those classic point and click games but with some neat motion based puzzles chucked in for good measure.

Little Big Adventure was awesome

I'd like some point and click games for the Wii. Zack and Wiki is meant to be pretty good btw - that's an adventure game of some kind.

I think the you've got the genres confused. Mario is a platformer not an adventure game.
