Lack of memory for starting up game.

Hi,

I recently bought Vampire : The Masquerade Bloodlines. Upon double clicking the icon (bought through steam) it quickly me informs that I have too little memory to enable me to play the game, something like 15mb! This is crazy since I must have well over 2 of my 4gig spare.

I am using Vista 64bit. Does anybody have any knowledge that may be of help here?

try running as administrator

oh and make sure you have all the patches installed

It's a bug, get the latest unofficial patch from here: http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php . You'll need to do this anyway to be able to run with proper textures as the retail game will force everything to ultra-low res if you have too much memory.
