Grr! My PC is really annoying me! It's my personal PC, built myself, etc. and yet it's constantly telling me I don't have permissions to edit anything. Even simple things such as trying to install a font for some reason the C:\windows\fonts folder is set to read only and yet when i try and uncheck the box it says I don't have permission.

What can I do? Why does it keep doing this for different things? I'm the only one whoever uses this computer so ultimately I'd just like to turn off all security :p and allow me to edit everything.

Any help on this would be a GREAT! Thanks!

Sounds like something has messed with permissions..

Providing you're logged in with an admin account.

Right click the folder > Properties > Security tab > Advanced > Owner tab

Select your account and click take onwership

Try that and see what it does.

Assuming he's running XP pro... if it's home, then safe mode... would also do the whole AV thing.

Thanks for the help, I've just had a look where you mentioned and the current owner says TrustedInstaller, anyone know what that is or why it would be there? I'm applying ownership to the whole of the C:\ so it's going to take while!

Edit: I'm using Vista Ultimate! :) When I apply the new owner the first box to ocme up says "An error occured while applying security information to:
C:\pagefile.sys

Access is denied"
