I need a ladder to be able to clean my upstairs windows. I can't decide between a 'proper' ladder (i.e. 2 or 3 section extender), or one of the telescopic ones.

I have space to store a proper ladder now as I have a big garage, but my next home might not have storage, hence thinking about going for a telescopic one.

A telescopic one wouldn't be able to reach the roof if I needed it to, and I'm worried they're a bit flimsy, but it is more convenient and flexible, and roughly the same ballpark price.

Does anyone have any advice on which to go for?

I was going to recommend this, as it's pretty sturdy for a collapsible, relatively compact, a bit heavy but should do nicely for 2nd story windows: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01103AU32/

However, I bought it for £60 back in 2018 and can't believe the price now. Maybe I should have invested in ladders. Did everyone buy ladders in lockdown or something?

I am also in the market for a ladder, but that can reach a 2nd story soffit, so I'm looking at 2 section extension ones. https://www.laddersukdirect.co.uk/diy-extension-ladders/domestic-double-extension-ladders/ludd2

If you are going to get a telescopic ladder, get a well recommend good brand one.

A cheap one can take the ends of your hands and feet off.

Can't you do it with a telescopic brush/hose combo thing. Ladders are hazardous, first choice should be avoid where possible.

True story a freind of mine worked in heavy industry for 40+ years retired on a handsome pension and died 2 years after retiring falling off a ladder.

I fell off a ladder about 3 years ago only 6 foot hurt like buggery scared my wife to death, couldn't walk without pain for about 4 weeks.

I'm not saying never use ladders but if it's feasible do it from the ground, do it from the ground.
