Ladies (or small men’s) 1x11 MTB for under £500 - possible?

The wife’s had the loan of a 3x8 mtb for a few weeks and is really enjoying it, her main issue is getting in a bit of a tangle with front and rear gears, she had a quick try on my 1x11 and loved the simplicity of it. So, are there any half decent new 1x11 bikes under £500 or even used/clearance bikes I should consider?

She doesn’t want to spend a fortune as it’s more social riding than anything hardcore. I’ve looked at the Norco Charger but can’t find one for under £500.

Get a bike in budget and covert it to 1x11. Higher end spec bikes come more with 1x than the lower end.

https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/hybrid-bikes/voodoo-agwe-mens-hybrid-bike-18-20-frames is a good deal at the mo, £400 before British Cycling membership discount. Would depend on her height and cycling inseam, for whether the 18" frame would fit. It's 1x10, which should be fine for an 11-42 cassette range.

Alternatively, look at 2x or 3x bikes and fit a narrow-wide chainring to make it 1x.
