Lag whenever a webpage opens?

So basically over the last year I've moved to Wales and needless to say the internet isn't quite as fast we get around 1.5-2mb with a download rate of 200-250kb/s and an upload of around 0.36 mb/s (yeah I know)..

The ping is fine averaging at about 22ms, however as soon as anyone loads up a webpage or does anything on the internet game's virtually lock up and the ping spikes to about 2000ms.

I am curious if it is down to the router as we are using the ****** default BT one (as we cannot prioritize gaming traffic) or this lag is incurable unless they upgrade the lines around here? (As the speed we have right now is the fastest we can get).

Any webpage with a reasonable amount of content will saturate a 2Mb/s connection for a couple of seconds.

How many people share the connection?

You could look into throttling each user. http://www.netlimiter.com/

There's 3 of us on the connection, all I do is game, and the other two is mainly just web page browsing nothing more..
That sounds like a decent idea, how would it work? we sort of throttle a 1/3 of the internet to each user?

You could allocate 30% of the connection speed to each user. Leave 10% for overhead.
