lagging net on virgin media, whilst on bbc iplayer

not sure who's to blame here for what's happening.

i'm with virgin media and i recently downgraded my package from tv, phone, net, to just net.

at a similar time i've noticed some sites now completely lose connection for a few seconds. the speeds are fine as i've done a speed test and downloading on utorrent it's quick, but say i'm watching the iplayer, it'll play like it's not able to buff the video quick enough. i often have to pause the video for ages and then watch.

speed test results:

ping: 18
down: 9.5 mbps
up: 1 mbps

anyone know what it could be? trboule is it doesn't always happen but when it does it happens mostly on bbc (though i really only watch bbc), sometimes on youtube (but then youtube's always been like this for me on some videos).

could just be network congestion or overcrowding. A load of my mates who are on Virgin are complaining that the service has gone downhill lots since they started their big advertising campaign with stuff like streaming being the worst offenders. A couple have even moved away from Virgin!
