Lagging on and off in games (CSS)

Hi Folks,

While playing CSS every minute or 2 I get a moments lag where the game pauses for a second and then continues. On the net graph I can see a big spike in the connection and my ping increases. This happens fairly regularly ad is becoming really annoying!

Is there anything I can do I windows to check the connection status to find out what is accessing the net and so stop it. I have run a spyware program and checked for viruses but this hasn't stopped it. Also, I have tried to make sure that I don't have anything running in the background.

How can I find out what is accessing the net every minute?

You might have better luck in the games section TBH. Have you tried different servers to see if there is a difference?

you can download a trial of du meter, that shows you the download speeds etc of things, it can also limit/block connections from programs.
are you using a upto 8mbp product using adslmax? it could be the interleaving is on to make your connection more stable? that would cause a slightly higher ping but it would be constantly higher instead of spiking etc.
