Hi, as said above , On certain games I have lags while gaming (prince of percia, Wheelman, NFS: undercover, etc.)...but "most" of games run smoothly: COD, Crysis, etc.)

1)It happens even when CPU/ram not OC'ed!
2)with HD4870, GTX280 (tried different drives)
3)Used to have OCZ platinum now /kingston (tried different V. and Timings)

... And this problem still ramains!

any suggestions?

Thanks:rolleyes:

Hi, well, I do not play online,..only COD4, but as I said even with my crappy wireless connection I do not have lagging on COD4!

It is hardware related!

But, do not know what to try else...

Try using another more specific tool than windows' own to check the hard disk.

Have you tried disabling indexing? Updating directx manually and defragging your hard disk?

Wait, what?

It happens in NFS but not in Crysis? That sounds strange to me.

Crysis is the biggest culprit for performance lag - if it's not happening on crysis but is in other games, I doubt your issue is your hardware. Can I assume you lowered settings on the affected games to minimum?

If so, I'd be looking at the game installs, but that's unusual for it to happen to several at once. Much more likely it's something to do with your connection, either your internet connection is slow, your network is causing problems or there's an issue with certain servers.

Hi, as I said before I play online only COD4, ant it's running perfectrly!

Yep, Crysis and GTA4- runs without a problem!and most of games such as: Shellshock 2, 007, Grid, Dark Sector, End War, etc.

Talkin about lagging it happens for example once a 5 sec-15 sec.

Ah, so the games which lag are played locally only?

I can't see how it would be your GPU or you'd get consistently low framerates - besides which a GTX280 should be fine with pretty much any of those games with the right settings.

How many games is it, and which ones? You mention three, any others?

I'd go for a software issue, or a problem with your hard drive, as being likely. Perhaps memory. If it were the CPU or GPU I'd expect consistantly lower frame rates, rather than these occasional lags.

I would suspect hardware software /driver issues soemthings not liking your install or some background processes are kicking in and proabbly accessing the disk enought to slow things down (document indexing, virus/antispyware etc).

is this 32 bit or 64 bit ultimate

32 bit can have issues with some software and memory allocation,
64 bit drivrs tend not to be as well updated (though improving steadily)

are the problem games mostly dx9 titles?

Hi, Yep, did register cleaner, and scaned HDD with TUNE UP utilities!

vista is 64BIT

while gaming I have only firefox opened and that's pretty much it...

A complete reformat may be drastic, but you'll probably spend a similar amount of time faffing around trying to sort this one anyway.

Re-install windows and the latest driver for everything, then just install the games by themself. That should rule out any software problems.

drivers ar up to date.

Re-installing...erm,..maybe, but I do not want to delete all my stored files, etc.

Maybe Windows recovery/repair?

Do you not have your hard drive partitioned anyway?

Reformatting windows can just be done on one partition, keeping your data/music etc.
