Wielkopolska, Poland was the site of some very happy drinkers after nearby Lake Bracholinskie was the beneficiary of a large leak from a vodka distillery. Residents from the area quickly heard about the mishap and headed for the lake to fill up.

"Our alcohol measuring equipment is not wrong. It recorded a level of 30%. There is vodka in this lake," said chemist Robert Wilczynski.

"If God does not help us, everyone in the neighbourhood will be stinky drunkards and only a hole will be left on the site of our lovely lake," said 76-year-old nearby resident Genowefa Licha.

:) They get all the fun over there, first there was that lake that simply dissapeared (I think it was in Russia though) and now this Vodka lake :p

PMSL:p...thats cool...a lake with vodka in it:D...not that i drink or anything...just find it highly amusing.

I'll have to mention this to the 2 polish lasses that work for me in my office:p

So what are they going to do, fill up big barrels with watery vodka? Drink it? Vodka's probably cheaper than water in Poland anyway.

So is it 30% alcohol or 30% vodka?

If its only 30% vodka then it wouldn't be all that great because it would be watered down

Distillation is your friend.

Polish vodka is evil.

My mate bought me a shot of 80% proof Polish after asking the barman.

' I want something that will **** him. '

It did ....... what a skinful !

I can imagine that lake being a magnet for holidays. A kind of Lourdes for chavs.

As above, that's 40%. So the same as any other vodka...

Aye, proof is just double what the alcohol by volume is. Proof is an older way of measuring it, don't know much else about it really :p If you want to kill him, just give him some ethanol, firewater or absinthe.

A lot of the absinthe on sale is really weak, though. The proper stuff is about 85-90% or something like that, but in pubs you'll often find that their 'absinthe' is about 65%.

Yeah. If you go to www.thedrinkshop.com and a few other sites. Specialist alcohol shops would have all sorts. But otherwise you're just looking at your crummy smirnoff for vodka etc.
And on the topic of vodka, does anyone know of a Russian one that's something like pola or polar ...... - Was recommended it by my russian teacher, but can't remember for the life of me what the complete name was.

Revolution sell a vodka called Polish Pure Spirit which is 79.9% ABV, they also do one at around 85% but you're not allowed to buy shots of that, it can only be bought with a mixer :)
