Lake District

Hi peeps,
I'm looking at going to the lakes for a long weekend over easter and was wondering if anyone had any advice on places to stay, things to see etc.

Will proberbly be driving up there and looking to hire some bikes for a day, maybe take a dingey out if theres a decent place to do it (and its not snowing) and do some walking in the hills.

Would like to stay in a reasonably nice hotel / b&b but tbh i'm really not to sure where abouts i should be looking.....

any advice would be great

cheers for all the suggestions, might have to pick up a rough guide or something from the libary, seems like there are tonnes of options. Its never going to be quiet over easter weekend, but the quieter areas are defernatly more tempting!

any more ideas / area suggestions would be great.
