Lamborghini Urus crossover SUV concept

To be fair the luxury SUV segment is a gap that has plenty of space to fill. Currently if you've got Ferrari money but want a 4x4 there isnt many options above a Range Rover.

I don't get the motor industry at times, you have the big race for renewable energy or whatever and the constant flow of low emission engines being introduced by every manufacturer, yet at the same time they all release big, pointless, gas guzzling chelsea tractors every month.

Of all the premium car makers 4x4 projects (Bently, Aston, Porsche etc) this is buy faaaaar the best looking.

But to steal a joke, its like being the best looking on the burns unit...

Well, it's better looking than their previous effort :-

Massive profit margins on these type of products.

The problem is that manufacturers are filling in gaps that didn't need to be filled.

Maserati have also made a crossover thingy.

Why does it not need to be filled? There is no full blown luxury 4x4s on the market meaning that people 'settle' for Range Rovers. This presents a very tasty gap for the VAG group, they know how massive Cayenne sales are, they'll already have access to the Cayenne and Q7 technology so development costs will be relatively , all they have to do is fit a large engine, do a nice interior and slap a Bentley or Lambo badge on it and enjoy a massive profit margin when they're selling the base model for £150k odd.
