What is the procedure for getting the above to work guys. Like an idiot i bought a three contract which has a good 6 months to run, and i would like to buy an iphone now. Therefore in the interim i require it to function with my three sim card until i can sort an o2 one when the contract expires.

How do i do this? Will it work?

I know nothing about iphones, and i cannot find a definitive answer as to whether i will be wasting a good few hundred notes.

Cheers :)

PAYG seems to be the only sensible option, and perhaps consider the 3G instead of the 3GS?

We cannot talk about unlocking, and jailbreaking but both are easy to do.

What kind of data plan you have also on that contract before you go ahead surfing away on the iPhone?

I have sufficient data, and would be purchasing the 3G iphone, 3GS seems not much better to me and is miles more expensive.

To clarify (if we cannot talk about unlocking  ) the iphone 3G WILL function with a three sim card then? :)

Yes it will function when jailbroke.

Alternatively you can just buyout the Three contract. Reduce your tariff so it's less per month and then buy it out. Will just cost 6 x monthly cost. So if you are paying £20 per month, you need to pay £120.

Buying out a contract seems to me to be the most pointless thing in the world? If i buy it out i might as well keep it and use the free mins, i see no advantage to paying the line rental and forfeiting it :p

You can buy the contract out up-front and still have access to the minutes / messages ;)

Why would i want to do that? :p Either way, it involves needing to put the three sim card into the iphone :)

I'm considering doing exactly the same thing, co-incidentally I have 6 months left on my 3Mobile contract too.

Wheres the best place to buy an iPhone from? O2 and then unlock it yourself?
