Has anyone used these? The ones that are like a big paper cutter but for laminate?

I have a room I have needed to do for a while and I want to get it sorted. One of the things that has been holding me back is that I struggle to cut the laminate straight. I do have a jigsaw and circular saw but I struggle to get a nice straight cut all the time.

A friend has mentioned these type of cutters and they look nice and easy to use, leave no dust or mess and create a nice flush cut (some lengthways) some are a bit steep but some can be had for about 60 quid and would come in handy if I sort a other room.

So anyone used one or had any experience?

Check out the tool rental place and see what they have. A track saw could be used if you are super mildful about depth/have a nice flat surface to cut on.

All cuts should be hidden anyway so just cut it with whatever you have. I use my mitre saw for flooring or just a knife for some vinyl planks.

Jigsaw with either a down cut blade or a fine steel blade is what i used in the trade.Circular or chop saw blades did not last as the laminate took the edge off very quickly

Laminate is really hard on blades!

As someone above said pretty much every gut you make should be hidden so just get a jigsaw with a fine blade and a set square to mark the lines. Nobody will know if it wiggles a bit once it’s down so don’t stress about it.

OK. i will give it a go.. Is it worth getting a couple of packs of the laminate wood jigsaw blades or will very fine blades work ok?

I find blades are like shavers.. you don't know how crap they are until you use a fresh one. Grab a bunch and change after n lengths regardless...imho.

Its a long time since I did laminate but I am sure I used new stanley blades and snapped the boards.
I wouldnt have picked that from choice so would have been told from within the trade to do it that way.

Then jigsaw/circ saw etc for taking out sections.

The last floor I did I used an old chop saw for anything across a board and a jigsaw with a pack of cheapo blades from screw fix for anything else. Don’t over think it any fine(ish) cut jigsaw blade will do and just check it when cutting becomes hard work!
