I'm in the process of getting some laminate to do my flat. I've considered engineered wood but with the size I am doing (just over 100m3) it comes in over budget.

I'm getting a fitter I have used before to lay this. He strongly recommends quick step and that seems to be the consensus. I've been looking at the higher end quick-step lines. At the moment I'm looking at stuff from their perspective and impressive lines. Any thoughts from anyone on those?

I've also had recommendations from people to use some of the better Balterio stuff and also from Berry Alloc. (I can't read that without reading it as Barry Allen). Any thoughts from anyone on that?

Any recommendations on the cheapest places to buy this would be much appreciated.

Sonic Gold underlay seems to be a good choice on here to lay underneath it. I need something that soundproofs as much as possible. I've looked at the warranty information from QuickStep and it seems to invalidate it, if you don't lay it with QuickStep accessories. Does that include the underlay?

Is your flat above the ground floor if so laying laminate throughout is pretty inconsiderate so plan for annoyed neighbours!

We have laminate in the living room already and they are happy with the sound levels below. It is an old building with very high ceilings and large voids between the floors. I think the natural sound insulation is a lot better than with a modern build.
