Just wanted to know if anyone has had the problem of the onboard lan controller being stuck in "Deep Sleep Mode".
This is due to a Sleep/Hibernate problem where certain components are unable to wake up after resuming a windows session and it means that your unable to connect to the internet as windows shows no connections also network adapter is missing in device manager.

Unfortunatly due to me not having any internet access i tried to do a system restore but windows said it wasnt active and i couldn't turn it on so i had to re-install windows which i was glad i did as it gave me the oppurtunity to get rid of loads of crap.

After i re-installed windows i still had the same problem until i managed to find a fix off the internet at my friends. Basically i did a google search and was directed to another forum.

I was told to shutdown my pc and remove all sticks of ram and leave them out for at least 10 minutes then put them back in and startup the pc and that should make the Lan controller wake from deep sleep and to my surprise it did just that.

So i thought i would come here and tell you all about this just incase you have the same problem and need to know a fix for it.

I'm not sure what removing RAM sticks would do as they're dead to all once the system shuts down. But certainly shutting down and disconnecting the mains would work as most motherboards never truely shut off while mains is connected.

The text below was found here: http://adeelejaz.com/blog/realteks-network-controller-deep-sleep-mode-issue/

The problem starts when the computer goes into sleep/standby mode, a few components of the PC including the network controller (or adapter) are turned off. The issue occurs when the PC wakes up and power to everything is restored. The network controller doesn’t come on and as per Realtek installation message:

The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found.
If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable

The best fix is to reset the motherboard and the best way to reset your motherboard is to remove your RAM chips. Leave them out for some time (in my case 30 seconds) and put them back in. And that is all! The motherboard will be reset and the network controller will come out of deep sleep mode!

Note: If this doesn’t work, leave the RAM out for good 10 minutes. Leaving the RAM out longer has worked for some people (see comments below).

I tried removing the mains first but that didnt solve the problem so thats why i removed the RAM.
