Hey all,

I'm having a LAN party soon with a few chaps (literally only 4 - 5 of us) - strategy games are ruled out due to the fact I'm the only person who likes then (:p), so I need to think of some action games.

I#ve ordered GRAW off eBay, we have Raven Shield, Serious Sam, Call of Duty 2 - but can anyone suggest anything else?

Mainly co-op would be ideal!

Also, does anyone know how many players GRAW supports in co-op mode?

Hmm, I considered Alien Swarm actually - how many players can that handle in co-op? I'm under the impression it's only 4...

Yeah, I thought that at first too but it handles 8 without problems.

To be honest, I think you need more than 4 for some of those missions...*shudder* :)

We have found that Jailbreak is a good UT mod.
UT2004 itself.
BF2 (with latest update)
CS:S seems to get played occasionally.
CoD2 is great. (As is CoD)
Soldat is good for a lauch but our version seems to kick players out eventually and massive lag every few mins...

We usually have more than 8 players so go for the bigger maps/games.
With less than 8 - I recon an RTS would be a good laugh actually. :)

Raven Shield - One of the best LAN games IMHO.
Gets REALLY tense when there's only 1 or 2 guys left alive. :D
Good as the 'spray and pray' guys generally miss you completely whilst you line up for a headshot. ^_^

Serious Sam 2 is great for a laugh - Run around continually killing 1000's of baddies. :p Can be completed in a few hours too if the effort is put in.

BF1942 with Desert Combat is still hard to beat IMHO...
There are newer mods for it, but DC is still my fave for 1942.

In regards to your soldat problems, does the server have web access and if not, have you deleted all the entries in the lobby servers ini file? I found that not deleting those caused lag and issues that sound very similar to your own.

Raven Shield has been the center of our LAN parties since it came out really - both deathmatch and co-op - it just stays exciting!

I've played Serious Sam 1 and SE - is the second worth getting? I wasn't overly impressed with the demo...

Does BF2 have co-op as standard in the latest patch? I'd imagine the only thing that'd make us play it is if we can get a team of humans against a (much larger) team of CPUs!

Thank you! :D
Will try that on the 11th.
Great wee game whilst others are installing/updating their games/leeching.

And I have been ADVISED that BF2 now has co-op vs AI mode...
I have not tested myself, but will be testing before the next LAN.

No problem - Hope you get it sorted - it really confounded me when I first moved the server onto a network with no inet access :)
