Just to make sure I have got this right

If I get one of this electrical wiring adapters all I need to do is connect one next to the router with a lan cable and the other one anywhere I want and that would work? are there any issues with this technology?

Thanks

Simple as that, and much better than wireless!

It is a virtual cat5 cable running from adapter A to B. How you use it is up to you.

Router -> adaptor A -> adaptor B -> computer is a possible combination, yes :)

Most powerline kits allow you to just add more plugs to extend your network, as they each individually route traffic themselves rather than just acting like a bridge. Check with your particular model first, though.

What I want is for the machines connected to be having their own IP address. If the main adapter is 1 and the output to the router is also 1 i dont see how several Ip addresses can be assigned?

I assume you mean you want the machines to have routable IP's?

It should be possible, however, I think each powerline adapter would need a routable IP, also.
