LAN Transfer speeds

Im connected to the wireless router through a wireless pci card, and everytime I transfer large seperate files accross the LAN compared to a large 4gb video file its really SLOW. The only way to get the full speed is to zip all the seperate files up and trasnfer the .zip. I think windows likes large single files compared to large seperate files, or is this a known bug? Thanks

I don't really know why, it seems to be a problem on every device that stores files/folders.
For example it takes longer to transfer 8mb of files and folders to my memory stick than it does to put on a large single file.
